Model UN stands for Model United Nations, and it’s a club where students get to experience diplomatic procedure in an experience that simulates the real United Nations. Our AMUN delegates are prepared throughout the year for conferences, where students from many different schools and countries roleplay delegates to the United Nations and get together to come up with resolutions to a set of simulated real-world problems they are faced with.

During our weekly meetings, we have debates, learn about parliamentary procedure (the official rules that are in place during sessions), discuss current world affairs, run practice committee sessions, and create lasting experiences.

We attend conferences every year (like MUNUC-Model United Nations of the University of Chicago), where students have a chance to represent a country on a certain topic and work with other students (who are representing different countries) to reach resolutions. (Example: I am representing the country of Kenya and my committee is discussing women’s rights).

We send 40+ students to conferences, where they represent Auburn High School, and even get recognized for their outstanding achievement.

We are working on hosting our own Auburn Model UN conference to create memorable experiences for students in the area.
